A family of buffaloes with horns forming a halo around their heads amazed locals in Thailand.

While most bovines had horns raised upwards, three animals from Nakhon Ratchasima province had theirs curving downwards giving them an unusual appearance.

Footage shows the three female buffaloes named See Re, See Reh, and See Ruan being fed by their owner Khunawut Wajasit, 64, at a grass field on November 7.

They looked normal except for the sheath on their heads that ran down from the side of their heads and looped under their necks.

Farmer Khunawut said: 'I breed buffaloes but I do not know why three of my animals had unusually shaped horns. All my female buffaloes become like this.'

Livestock department officer Bancha Chutimantanon, who visited the farmer and his unique pets, said: 'We went to the area to provide disease prevention seminars to locals and saw the buffaloes.

'It can be a rare abnormality which might have stemmed from genetic inheritance over generations.'

Despite the horns' strange shape, the farmer said it does not interfere with the animals' daily lives.

He said: 'I fully believe my special buffaloes will bring me luck. I treat them well and take care of them. The gods will surely bless me.'
