Our Guilinggao-making skill follows ancient techniques comprising seven steps. The first is the selection of fine materials. The second is purification. We boil the whole turtle to remove the impurities. The third is extraction. We mix the ingredients according to the ancient recipe, grind the medicinal materials, soak them in the water, and extract the essence. The fourth is refinement. We boil the ingredients with both excessive and mild heat. The fifth is filtration. The sixth is cooking. The seventh is solidification."
