Gas pipeline explodes killing one person in India
A gas pipeline explosion killed one person in India.
A fire erupted after the blast, reaching up to 20ft (6m) in the air from the leaking pipe during an excavation at Lajpat Rai Park in Palwal, Haryana, on November 12.
Footage shows a nearby building and roadside engulfed in flames as firefighters battle the blaze.
Local reports said that three individuals, including the JCB driver, suffered burns and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Six shops, a three-storey building, and several parked vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
Police said that a water leak near the park prompted workers to dig a 10ft (3m) long and 8ft (2m) wide pit. However, during the excavation, the gas pipeline ruptured, leading to the combustion.
