Fans install giant airsoft gun inside football stadium
Fans installed a giant airsoft gun inside a football stadium in Japan.
Asian American airsoft player Lillianne Moo held the 'Lillianne's Meeting x Saitama Stadium' at Saitama Stadium 2002 in Saitama on October 29.
The event took place in half of the stadium, covering areas including the back stand, the first floor on the north side stand, the second floor, the second-floor stand, the outside corridor, and the stairs, with a total of 90 participants.
Players were equipped with military gear, clothing, radios, and equipment, along with airsoft guns featuring modified parts such as scopes or tripods.
They communicated in role-playing squads, acting as soldiers on teams tasked with eliminating the opposing side.
Lillianne Moo, driven by her dream of playing airsoft in the stadium, contacted Saitama Stadium directly to make the event happen.
This test game was a precursor to the main event, which is set to take place on February 8-9, 2025, with 120 participants scheduled for each day.
Advance reservations will open on December 14 and 15.
Saitama Stadium 2002 is used by J1 League club Urawa Red Diamonds for home games.
It is the largest football-specific stadium in Japan and one of the largest in Asia, with a maximum capacity of 63,700.
Completed in September 2001, it was designed to host matches of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, including the semi-finals.
It is also the home stadium of the Japan national football team for many FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
