On November 13, 2024, Mount Lewotobi in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, erupted with terrifying force, producing massive roars and spewing ash across a wide region. Tragically, the eruption claimed the lives of 10 people and displaced approximately 13,000 residents. In addition, the powerful volcanic activity led to the cancellation of 84 flights, 64 of which were international, disrupting travel on nearby Lombok and Bali islands as volcanic ash blanketed the skies.

The isolated village at the foot of Mount Lewotobi, home to 3,115 people, is facing severe food shortages, with urgent calls for government aid as roads remain blocked due to volcanic activity. Local authorities are working to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to those affected.
