Phoenix, United States - October 31, 2024 Shocking bodycam footage released by the Phoenix Police Department shows the heart-pounding moments when officers rescued a man trapped inside his car after it plunged into a residential pool on Halloween night. Witnesses called 911 just after 2 a.m. when they saw the vehicle drive into the deep end of the pool. Officers arrived quickly, diving into the water and scrambling onto the roof of the submerged car. Using a metal bar, they shattered the sunroof, ultimately freeing the man, who emerged from the car wearing a yellow workman's vest and gave a thumbs-up to his rescuers. The officers then pulled the soaked and grateful driver to safety, ensuring he was the only occupant of the car. He was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Authorities have not confirmed whether impairment played a role in the crash. The rescue was captured on dramatic bodycam footage, highlighting the officers' quick thinking and bravery in a life-or-death situation.
