Toll, please! Elephant holds up oncoming truck to collect food
A wild elephant held up an oncoming truck to collect food.
Samnuan Dook was driving along the road when he encountered the hungry jumbo emerging from the roadside in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand, on September 26.
Footage shows the animal walking towards the lorry before ambling to the back of the vehicle to look for snacks.
Samnuan said: 'I didn't have any food to give, so when he realised I didn't have any, he walked away.'
Thailand has up to 3,500 elephants in the wild. The population has been increasing in recent years, but it is still a fraction of the estimated 300,000 wild elephants that lived in the country at the beginning of the 20th century.
The main threats to wild elephants in Thailand are habitat loss and fragmentation, poaching, and conflict with humans.
