On August 5th, in Dalian, Liaoning, during the hot summer, Ikea became a popular spot for locals seeking relief from the heat. With air conditioning running throughout the store, many residents chose to rest in the sofa and bed display areas. Videos showed large numbers of people occupying these areas, with some even lying down on the sofas and beds to sleep, accompanied by the sound of snoring.

This scene quickly spread on social media, sparking a heated discussion among netizens. Some expressed understanding of the locals' desire to escape the heat, while others voiced frustration over the long-term occupation of the display areas, arguing that it affected the shopping experience of other customers.

In response, Ikea stated that they understood the need for people to cool off, but they also faced challenges in managing customer behavior. Ikea staff had been making announcements through the PA system to remind customers not to occupy the display furniture for long periods, though the results were not very effective. Ikea expressed that they would continue to strengthen management and guidance to provide a comfortable and orderly shopping environment for all customers.
