São Paulo, Brazil - November 11, 2024 A series of events focused on governance experiences and cultural exchanges have been held ahead of the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Peru and the 19th G20 Summit in Brazil. One of the events, themed "Development and Revitalization: A New Journey for the Global South," was an inaugural gathering of the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum on Monday and Tuesday in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Congratulatory messages from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva were read out at the forum. The organizers of the forum said both President Xi and President Lula issued important new guidelines on the development of the Global South, which gains momentum and becomes an indispensable and constructive force in the international community. A Global South Media News Network was launched at the event and the "Sao Paulo Declaration of the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum", a think tank report titled "A New Model for Human Advancement and Its Global Significance" and multilingual versions of the report "Awakening of the Global South" were also released. In Lima, the capital city of Peru, a readers' meeting was organized last week to discuss President Xi's new book on governance in China. In Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Portuguese edition of President Xi's book "Up and Out of Poverty" was launched on Tuesday, accompanied by a seminar which provided a platform for sharing experiences in poverty reduction. An exhibition called "Light of the Sun: A Dialogue Between Ancient Shu and Inca Civilizations" also opened at the Inca Museum in Cusco, Peru, to showcase selected artifacts from the ancient Shu civilization, along with seven sets of Inca cultural relics.
