STORYLINE:
China's annual production of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surpassed 10 million units for the first time on Thursday, achieving a milestone for carbon reduction efforts.
The accomplishment was celebrated with a ceremony in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province. This event, which featured multiple vehicles rolling off a production line to mark the 10 millionth NEV, was organized by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) and held under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Over a dozen automakers had representatives at the event.

"It means that China's automobile industry has reached a new level of development. The industrial ecology has been comprehensively reshaped, the industrial system is highly coordinated, and international competitiveness has been significantly enhanced."
China produced 9.587 million NEVs and sold 9.495 million units in 2023.
