Málaga, Spain - November 13, 2024 The aftermath of the DANA storm continues to disrupt travel across Malaga as seven key secondary roads remain closed following severe flooding and river overflows. The DGT's Southeast Traffic Management Centre has reported significant damage to the internal road network, particularly in the regions of Campanillas, Teba, Campillos, Casarabonela, Cómpeta, Alozaina, and Benamargosa. While the main roads, including those leading into Malaga and the San Pedro tunnel, remain free of major disruptions, traffic has been significantly impacted by the severe weather. Several breakdowns on major routes, including the Cerrado de Calderón tunnel and the A-7 in Marbella, have caused temporary slowdowns, but these incidents are relatively minor compared to the widespread damage in secondary areas. The most severe conditions are being felt on local roads, which are either completely closed or severely affected by flooding and landslides. Notably, the access road to Campillos from the A-7286 remains blocked, as does the A-7207 between Cómpeta and Torrox. Overflowing rivers, including the Benamargosa, have forced closures, and many rural roads remain impassable due to floodwaters. The A-366 in Alozaina, the A-357 in Casarabonela, and other affected routes are still closed, with authorities on high alert as river levels continue to rise. In addition, the internal road to Campanillas was cut off by flooding as of yesterday.
