A friendly Irrawaddy dolphin gave a clam to a zookeeper and splashed water on her.

Footage shows the freshwater dolphin named Aunchan swimming to the edge of the pool where the worker was and opening its mouth to reveal the shell at Oasis Sea World in Chanthaburi, Thailand on November 13.

Aunchan handed to her its gift and made a high-pitched squealing noise.

The animal also playfully sprayed water onto the worker as she showed it the clam.

One of Oasis Sea World's caretakers said: 'Aunchan likes to bring us small gifts and souvenirs from the water.'

The Irrawaddy dolphin is a species of freshwater dolphin found in Southeast Asia. It primarily inhabits rivers, lakes, and coastal areas in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, as well as parts of India and Indonesia.

Unlike most dolphins, the Irrawaddy dolphin has a distinctive appearance of a rounded forehead, no beak, and a more compact body.

They typically weigh between 200 lbs and 440 lbs (90 kg to 200 kg) and reach a length of 8 ft (2 metres) at full maturity. The largest recorded length is 9 feet (3 metres) for a male in Thailand.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) considers them vulnerable due to habitat loss, fishing-related threats, and water pollution.
