The 29th Build Bangladesh 2024 International Expo kicked off in Dhaka Thursday, with more than 195 companies from 17 countries and regions participating in the three-day event, featuring over 550 booths that showcase innovative products and solutions.

Meherun N Islam, president and group managing director of CEMS-Global USA and Asia Pacific, an organizer of the expo, said in her inaugurating speech that the Bangladesh construction market has a remarkable potential which is projected to grow from 30.38 billion U.S. dollars in 2023 to 41.47 billion dollars by 2028, citing findings from their research.

The expo not only serves as a platform for companies to showcase their latest products and services but also fosters collaboration among industry leaders, paving the way for sustainable building practices.

Among the international exhibitors, Chinese companies are showcasing advanced sustainable construction materials to address pressing environmental concerns in Bangladesh.

SOUNDBITE (Chinese): Chinese exhibitor
"Bangladesh extensively uses natural clay to produce bricks, which is both environmentally unfriendly and wasteful of natural resources. We use recyclable artificial cement or bricks to manufacture eco-friendly bricks, which is exactly what Bangladesh urgently needs. That's why we came here."

Infrastructure development demand is high in Bangladesh due to the country's rapid population growth. Large-scale infrastructure development has fueled a significant demand for construction materials and equipment.
