Launched in Seoul in 2020 by the Korea China Association for Cultural Exchange, the New Era China Academy for Global Leaders has become a platform for fostering cultural exchange between the peoples of South Korea and China.

Till now, the academy has held six sessions and has attracted nearly 300 participants from various walks of life in South Korea.

In the just concluded sixth session, participants conducted a 15-week field study in 15 cities of China's Shandong Province.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Korean): SUYEON LEE, Participant
"I visited Shandong Province in China with other participants during the sixth session. Before the visit, I knew almost nothing about the region, except that it was the birthplace of Confucius. However, throughout the visit, I gained a much deeper understanding of Shandong. More than that, I had many unique experiences that can only be felt locally, leaving me with wonderful memories."

SOUNDBITE 2 (Korean): WOOK HUH, Executive vice president of the New Era China Academy for Global Leaders
"I think this (the academy) has helped deepen exchanges between South Korea and China. I believe that understanding China is not just about reading books or texts; it is only by stepping foot on this land and experiencing it firsthand that one can truly know and comprehend China."

SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): QU HUAN, President of the Korea China Association for Cultural Exchange
"We hope to help South Korean friends further understand the development of today's China and find common ground to cooperate in the future. I hope the academy can serve as a friendly platform for cultural exchange that benefits people from all walks of life in South Korea."
