An adorable schoolboy performed an impromptu song to uplift the spirits of his neighbours at a typhoon evacuation centre.

The youngster Levy Euan Quinn Salgado, 13, was taken to the sports centre with his family as they were affected by Typhoon Usagi in Cagayan, the Philippines.

When Levy heard there was a mini-contest being started by kind teacher Renie Emperio, he joined in and gave an uplifting performance.

Footage shows Levy Euan singing a folk song and dancing with it, making the flood victims burst into screams and laughter.

He was wearing a shirt and pants, the same clothes he had been wearing since he went to the centre but sang like it was his own concert.

Emmo Malana Nicolas who also stayed at the temporary shelter said: 'He made everyone happy. We forgot about our plight and saw hope through the boy.'

Typhoon Usagi was the fifth major storm to hit the archipelago in less than two months. It swamped villages and knocked down power lines, forcing thousands to leave their homes and stay at evacuation centres.

The other four storms Toraji, Trami, Yinxing and Kong-rey killed more than 100 people and caused widespread damage.
