Giant sea wave cascades into road and swallows passing fire truck
A giant wave crashed into a seaside road and swallowed a passing firetruck during Super Typhoon Man-yi in the Philippines.
Footage shows strong winds pushing tides violently through the breakwater and splashing onto the road in Catanduanes province, the Philippines on November 16.
The water engulfed the vehicles including a red emergency truck that was on its way to evacuate residents from the coastal area.
Resident Edmar Arevalo said they were installing protective panels on their roofs and windows when it happened.
Edmar said: 'They were roaming the area to help us move out when there was a giant wave. It was so scary.'
The water's strong impact moved the vehicle to the side while the other smaller cars fled. No one was hurt.
Super Typhoon Man-yi, locally named Pepito, is the archipelago's 16th tropical cyclone this year and the sixth major storm to ravage its island in less than a month.
It made land fall twice as a super typhoon this weekend before weakening and leaving the country on Monday, November 18. It is expected to reach Hainan, China on November 20 travelling northwestward.
The typhoon comes days only after five other storms Toraji, Trami, Yinxing, Kong-rey and Usagi killed hundreds, displaced thousands and caused widespread damage.
