STORYLINE:
A blanket manufacturing plant, costing 930 million afghani (about 13.62 million U.S. dollars), was formally inaugurated in Pul-e-Charkhi industrial park, a suburb of Kabul, on Sunday.
In the opening remarks, the acting deputy prime minister for economic affairs, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, said the government supports the private sector to create job opportunities and reduce dependence on imported goods.
The Afghan official also called upon traders and businessmen to invest and contribute to the rebuilding process of the war-ravaged Afghanistan, the National Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) reported.
The newly inaugurated plant capable of producing 1,000 blankets daily has created job opportunities for about 900 people currently.
As part of efforts to alleviate poverty and achieve self-sufficiency, the Afghan caretaker government has been reactivating damaged factories across the country and encouraging domestic and foreign companies to invest in Afghanistan.
