For 12 years, the filmer had dreamed of witnessing the Khomloy Lantern Festival in Chiang Mai. This year, the dream came true, but with a bittersweet twist. After losing their mother to cancer in March, the experience became deeply personal.

I’ve been dreaming of seeing this scene since 2012. Took me 12 years to finally make it year. I had always wanted to see it with my family, but unfortunately, my mom just passed away this March. It triggered me to take the step to take this step before it’s too late. The release of the lantern is also my way of letting my late mother go to a better place, so she is no longer suffering from the torture of cancer.
