United States - October 21, 2024 A dramatic bodycam video released by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) shows a 33-year-old man violently ramming a deputy’s car and two other vehicles as he attempted to flee from authorities at the Durbin Park shopping plaza on October 21. The incident began when deputies responded to a possible shoplifting call at Ulta, where they found Devon Spencer in a green Dodge Charger. After being asked to exit the vehicle, Spencer refused, pulling forward and striking an SJSO car, then backing up and scraping two additional vehicles before speeding off. Deputies pursued Spencer, eventually stopping him with a precision immobilization technique (PIT). As the chase came to an end, deputies observed Spencer tossing two loaded firearms from his vehicle, one of which was reported stolen from Clay County. Inside the car, authorities found multiple drugs, including fentanyl, meth, cocaine, and marijuana, along with additional criminal evidence. Spencer was arrested on charges including fleeing and eluding, possession of firearms by a convicted felon, and multiple drug-related offenses. He remains in custody and is due in court on December 3.
