A British tourist was arrested while high on drink and drugs for allegedly arguing with a street dog before attacking a restaurant owner.

The male holidaymaker - seen in the video with head wounds - was said to have been drunk and high on cannabis when he reportedly went on a rampage in the the early hours of November 18 in Pattaya, Thailand.

CCTV footage shows the man walking into the restaurant, only to be told by the owner Krongkan Ketwetsuriya, 45, to leave as it was already past opening hours.

When the tourist insisted on barging in, Krongkan called her husband, Chalermpong Anongthep, 36, who was then allegedly struck by the Brit on the head with a bottle. The Thai man retaliated by also bashing his head with a wooden rod.

Police later arrived to detain the rampaging suspect as he insulted the officers. They took him to the hospital to treat his wounds before going to the Pattaya City Police Station.

Police Colonel Sanan Kotanaon said: ‘We have not learned his name yet. We only know that he is British. We have not yet set an arbitration date with the restaurant owner, but we will press charges against him for assault.'

Furious Krongkan, who is seen in the video wearing a pink shirt, said: ‘The foreigner was heavily drunk and he had also been arguing with a dog nearby earlier. He was shouting at the dog and the dog was barking back at him.

‘He walked into the restaurant when I was alone, so I told him that the restaurant was already closed. He became angry and stormed over to a neighbouring cannabis shop, but he was also chased away from there so he returned to my restaurant.

‘I called my husband, Chalermpong Anongthep, 36, to talk with him. The man might have thought that my husband would attack him, so he struck his head with a beer bottle and sparked a physical fight.

‘No one around here knows who he was, but he had been drinking alcohol in the area since 5 pm. It seemed like he was drunk and high on cannabis.

'I only learned from the police that he was British, but I do not know his name, age, or other information.

‘I want him to understand that he should not go around threatening Thai people just because the shops are closed. I am not demanding anything from him, but I do feel angry that he would threaten us like this.'

She added that her husband was taken to the Pattaya City Hospital to be treated for head injuries.

Former fishing village Pattaya became popular with American troops on 'rest and relaxation' breaks in the 1960s when the U.S. military had bases in Thailand. In the ensuing years, the coastal resort spawned into a semi-barbarous sex-tourism hellscape.

Embarrassed officials have made progress in gentrifying the region with family tourism projects but a ravenous nightlife industry and corrupt police have hampered their efforts, with undesirables from all nations still attracted to the seedy city.
