Parents apprehend motorist who rammed into students outside primary school in China
On the morning of November 19, a serious vehicle-into-pedestrian incident occurred outside Yong'an Primary School in Dingcheng District, Changde City, Hunan Province, injuring several students and adults.
According to eyewitness accounts, at approximately 7:37 am, a white SUV suddenly accelerated outside the school and rammed into students and parents waiting to enter. The scene descended into chaos, with safety bollards at the school gate being knocked over, and electric scooters crushed to the ground. Several students, parents, and school security staff were injured and collapsed on the ground, some in critical condition.
Following the incident, school staff and nearby residents quickly began rescue efforts, transporting the injured to the hospital for treatment. According to official reports, all injured individuals were promptly taken to a local hospital and are receiving emergency care. Fortunately, none of the injuries are life-threatening, and the victims remain under further treatment and observation.
The driver, a 39-year-old man named Huang, was not a parent of any student at the school. He was subdued on-site by parents and school security personnel before police arrived and took him into custody. Authorities have stated that the specific motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation and will be disclosed as soon as possible.
