An Israeli tourist was fined for riding a motorcycle on a beach in Thailand.

The holidaymaker, Amirah Midhat, 30, reportedly caused a disturbance when his two-wheeler became stuck on the sand at Kamala Beach in Phuket on November 5.

Police Colonel Somsak Thongkliang, superintendent of the Kamala Police Station, said the rider was summoned by police to explain himself.

Midhat said he was unaware that driving a vehicle on the beach was prohibited as there were no warning signs in the area. He added that beach joyrides were allowed in his home country.

He was fined 5,000 baht (114 GBP) 'for causing a public disturbance'.

In May, Thai influencer 'SpriteDer SPD' sparked outrage when he drove an electric vehicle onto Pak Nam Lang Suan Beach in Chumphon province to film content for his vlogs. Beach-goers had to help him when his car was mired in the wet sand. He was also made to pay a fine by authorities.
