Chinese man builds controversial device that enables pet dog to help out with household chores
Recently, in Zaozhuang, Shandong, a man, frustrated by his Labrador's boundless energy, ingeniously created an automatic dog-walking machine that not only fulfills his pet's exercise needs but also lets the dog "help out" with household chores.
According to the owner, the machine was meticulously designed to cater to both his dog's needs and his household demands. It features a treadmill where the dog can run freely, burning off excess energy. Remarkably, the device integrates household functions. While running, the dog powers various attachments like a bellows, a corn sheller, and a sweeping brush, combining exercise with practical tasks.
The owner explained that his goal was to enhance his dog’s quality of life while adding a bit of fun and functionality to his household. Though the machine took considerable time and effort to build, he feels it was worth it, seeing his dog happily running and contributing to chores.
The invention quickly went viral online, garnering widespread attention. Many praised the owner's creativity, humorously dubbing the Labrador a "working dog."
However, animal welfare experts cautioned pet owners to prioritise safety and comfort when designing similar devices, emphasising the importance of avoiding harm or distress to pets due to faulty designs or misuse.
