Tustin, United States - November 18, 2024 A young male mountain lion was safely rescued from a tree in Tustin on Wednesday afternoon after wandering into a residential yard near Irvine Blvd. and Holt Ave. Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene, assisting Fish & Wildlife personnel in removing the animal. For the safety of both the mountain lion and first responders, the cat was tranquilized before being safely extracted from the tree. Biologists from Fish & Game provided immediate care and prepared the animal for transport. It was then relocated to a processing center before being released back into the wild, far from residential areas. While such incidents are rare, the rescue serves as an important reminder for residents to give wildlife space and contact the proper authorities when encountering animals. Both the animal’s safety and the well-being of the public are best ensured by calling in wildlife experts.
