Locals used a zip line to carry their motorcycles across a river after their bridge broke during a tropical storm in the Philippines.

The residents had to rely on the cable attached to both ends of what used to be a hanging bridge before it was destroyed by heavy rains in Camarines Norte province.

Footage shows two-wheelers tied to harness and being pulled by a rope to cross on November 11.

Aside from vehicles they also used the line to bring food and medicines to their village that was isolated after the storm.

Resident Tony Bryant Estrebello said: 'The village was separated from the rest. It was the fastest way in and out.'

The locals could carry their supplies across the river below but the zip line was the safer choice as there was a risk of flash floods hitting the area.

Tropical Storm Trami , known locally as Kristine, intensified into a severe tropical storm and churned over the Philippine Sea on Wednesday, October 23.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported at least 145 fatalities, 115 injuries, and 37 missing persons due to Trami.
