Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - November 18, 2024 International observers have lauded Chinese President Xi Jinping's speech at the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Monday, saying his address has put forward a Chinese solution to the challenges presented by the times and contributed wisdom and strength for countries to jointly build a just world for common development. Speaking at Session I of the G20 Summit on fighting hunger and poverty, Xi outlined China's eight actions for global development, including pursuing high-quality Belt and Road (BRI) cooperation, implementing the Global Development Initiative, supporting development in Africa, supporting international cooperation on poverty reduction and food security, helping the Global South gain better access to global advances in science, technology and innovation, and supporting the G20 in carrying out practical cooperation for the benefit of the Global South. In his speech, Xi stressed that if China can make it, other developing countries can make it too, and this is what China's battle against poverty says to the world. Officials from many countries have stated that China is not only a role model to learn from, but also a reliable partner.
