A plastics factory fire spread to a village and ravaged homes in India.

The blaze started at the chair manufacturing facility shortly after midnight and reached more than 150 houses in Delhi on November 19.

Footage shows the inferno emmitting massive black smoke. It can be seen from a row of apartments where panicked residents gathered at the parking space.

More than 20 fire trucks were sent to help put out the fire, which lasted more than six hours and was brought under control at 8 am.

Authorities said chemicals and combustible plastic granules made it difficult for them to put out the flames.

Police are now investigating the cause while thousands left homeless are being provided with assistance.
