Baku, Azerbaijan - Recent Industry experts from Chinese enterprises gathered at the UN climate change conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, to contribute ideas, experience and solutions to cope with climate change and share their carbon reduction and green development practices with global participants. The COP29, formally known as the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), opened in Azerbaijan's capital city on Nov 11 and will conclude on Nov 22. Negotiators gathered there to discuss strategies for reducing carbon emissions, achieving carbon neutrality, and advancing the transition to green technologies. As the global call for climate action grows louder, China is undergoing a remarkable transformation and focusing more on green products in recent years, which makes Chinese companies capture the limelight at the event. Gan Lili, senior engineer at the China Water Environment Group Limited, a professional investment platform on water environment, noted that water treatment is an energy-extensive consuming industry as a good deal of electricity and chemicals is needed when processing water, adding that his company is committed to providing clean water and treating wastewater in a more environmentally friendly, energy-saving manner. COP, or Conference of the Parties, refers to a series of formal meetings where governments assess global efforts to advance the Paris Agreement and UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, with the aim of limiting global warming increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
