Tehran, Iran - November 19, 2024 The "maximum pressure" of the United States against Iran has failed, said Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi at a joint press briefing with visiting Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bassam al-Sabbagh in Tehran on Tuesday. He also stressed that Iran will continue to support and help regional resistance forces, including Syria, to jointly deal with the Israeli threats. He also said that Iran has proved to Israel and any countries with the attempts to threaten Iran that any act of aggression against Iran's territory will be responded at the appropriate time. Bassam al-Sabbagh said that the root cause of regional tension is the Palestine-Israel conflict. Iran has the legitimate right to defend its territory and people. Syria condemns the Israeli attacks on Syria and the crimes of Israel must be stopped immediately and Israel should be punished for that. He also said that Syria demands Israel to end its illegal occupation of the Golan Heights. Araghchi said Iran will always stand by the side of the people of Syria and Iran condemns any attempts to destabilize Syria. Iran and Syria have frequent exchanges over the recent period of time. Iran's Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh arrived in Syria on Saturday to strengthen defense and security ties between the two countries. A delegation led by the senior advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei also visited the country recently. Analysts pointed out that these visits helped strengthen the political, economic and military cooperation between the two countries, and more importantly, they signaled that Iran will continue working with regional resistance forces to fight against the Israeli aggression in the Middle East.
