New escalator transforms mountain access in China
A new escalator has transformed mountain access in China.
The Nan Tian Ladder, a 1,247ft (3,800m) long system equipped with four sets of bi-directional escalators, was built at the Shenxianju Scenic Area in Zhejiang to provide tourists with a tireless tour experience.
Aerial footage shows the extensive escalator operating in the mountainous area, located at an altitude of 4,170ft (1,271m), with tourists riding the moving stairs toward the summit in approximately four minutes on August 12.
Local reports said that the machine has a capacity of up to 3,600 passengers per hour, offering an efficient way for visitors to enjoy panoramic mountain views without the need for strenuous climbing.
The project was reportedly built at a cost of 20 million Chinese Yuan (approximately 2,182,738 GBP).
