SOUNDBITE 1 (English): JORDAN MARTIN, Assistant professor, Yuelu Academy, Hunan University
"There's care for humans everywhere. It's not something that belongs to China or belongs to the West, or belongs to anywhere.
What we should be looking to do here is to establish some common ground."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MARY EVELYN TUCKERM, Senior lecturer and research scholar at Yale University
"We can't just be anthropocentric about the human. We need to be anthropocosmic, because this is what Chinese traditions offer in the early traditions.
China has a very ancient notion of what it is to become human in relationship to nature, but also in relationship to other humans. It's very important."
