Housewife, 42, bitten by python on the head as she tends to her chickens
A housewife was attacked by a python that bit her on the head while she was trying to tend to her chickens.
Mind, 42, went to the backyard to drape a cloth over the bird coop to protect them at night before the 11ft (4m) snake struck her in Chiang Mai, Thailand on November 21.
With her forehead bleeding, she shouted for help and quickly took a plank, which she used to pin the serpent's body down.
Footage shows Mind at the back of their house and using her foot to put weight on the reptile as rescuers arrive.
Her wound was only a few inches above her left eye, where blood dripped to the collar of her shirt.
Mind said: 'It was dark, so I did not see the snake immediately. Maybe it was trying to eat my chickens when I put the cloth over.'
She added that the snake tried to coil around her arm, but she shook it off and stepped on its body.
Mind said: 'I managed to grab its neck and used a plank so I can pin it to the ground until help arrived.'
Rescuers caught the snake and took it to their facility, while Mind was given first aid treatment in an ambulance before medics drove her to Chiang Mai Klaimor Hospital for treatment.
The snake was later released into the wild.
The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
