An Indonesian economist has highlighted China's significant role in global poverty alleviation.
SOUNDBITE (English): JOSUA PARDEDE, Chief economist of Permata Bank, Indonesia
"With regard to the work for poverty reduction, I think China has made a notable impact because China has already lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty, which has contributed significantly to global poverty alleviation. What the government of China has done to alleviate poverty, I think, has made a significant improvement in global poverty reduction. China's development model has focused on infrastructure, education, and economic policies that enable rapid poverty reductions, which are shared through investment and partnership, particularly with (other) developing countries. I think this is very critical."
