Baku, Azerbaijan - November 21, 2024 Chinese delegations gathered at a United Nations (UN) climate conference to showcase China's recent efforts and achievements in energy conservation and emission reduction, gaining widespread attention and recognition from global attendees. During the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which concluded on Friday in Baku, Azerbaijan, delegations from China's major cities like Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing, and Shenzhen presented their environmentally friendly solutions at the China Pavilion. These solutions, supported by advanced technologies and innovative ideas, contributed to the transition to green and sustainable development. A display of a virtual power plant, which is located in south China's Shenzhen, attracted a lot of attention. The Shenzhen Virtual Power Plant Management Center uses advanced internet technology to connect and manage various energy resources, such as charging stations, solar panels and energy storage devices that are spread out among end users. Through re-deployment and optimization, the virtual power plant can provide stable clean electricity to the power grid. Because such a power plant without factories is inexpensive to build, it is effective in saving energy and reducing emissions. A delegation from Beijing's Jiangshanfu Community presented their sustainable waste disposal solution at COP29. The community converts daily kitchen and garden waste into useful organic fertilizer, achieving both localized waste management and resource recycling. The China Pavilion at COP29 has offered a glimpse into China's green development approach, with many international attendees recognizing the country's achievements in energy conservation and emission reduction.
