A backpacker was seen headlocking a local driver during a road rage incident in Bali.

The holidaymaker, wearing a sleeveless shirt and pants, tried to cross a junction, according to witnesses, when he crashed into another two-wheeler in Indonesia on November 13 morning.

He stepped off the Yamaha Lexi and furiously confronted the local, who also fell over from his Yamaha NMax.

The two erupted into a brawl before onlookers tried to separate, creating a chaotic scene on the holiday island.

Footage shows the tourist, fuming red in the face, squeezing in his left arm the head of the motorcycle rider he collided with.

At least four others helped release the local from his grip, but the burly foreigner was still able to headlock him for at least ten seconds.

Some of the angry onlookers punched him in the face, and he pulled away.

He picked up his helmet from the pavement before he was seen fighting with another local, with whom he exchanged a few punches.

More gathered to intervene and stopped the fighting as heavy traffic built up at the junction.

A witness, Rani, said: 'The foreigner did not check on his right before making a turn and they crashed into each other.

'Instead of apologising, he strangled him in his arms. He looked drunk.'

The alteration is one of the latest incidents involving misbehaving tourists on the bustling holiday island in Indonesia.

Officials have even taken steps to reign in the chaos following complaints from police and residents about tourists disrespecting the culture, violating traffic rules, committing crimes and behaving badly in public.
