On the afternoon of November 21, a pelican from the Yinji Animal Kingdom in Zhengzhou, Henan, managed to slip out of the park during a behavior showcase and wandered onto the streets.

Videos show the pelican strolling confidently down the street, appearing completely at ease despite the surprised looks from passersby and nearby traffic.

Upon discovering the pelican’s disappearance, the zoo staff immediately launched an emergency search. After some effort, they successfully located the wandering bird on the street. Following some "calming down," they safely brought it back to the park.

According to the zoo, the pelican is usually free-range in the park’s pond and has never attempted to escape before. This escape may have been driven by curiosity about its surroundings or some form of stimulus during the behavior showcase. The zoo stated they will enhance animal management and supervision to prevent such incidents in the future.
