Couple provide free vegetable stand for wedding guests
A couple provided a free vegetable stand for their guests as a unique wedding attraction.
The bride and groom put up a booth at the front of their reception hall and filled it with various local produce on their special day in Misamis Oriental province, the Philippines, on November 15.
Footage shows the newlywed's guests taking chayote, green chilli, squash, and lettuce from the setup and stuffing them into their shopping bags.
Their friends and families could pick what they wanted and take them home like they were shopping in the market.
Wedding coordinator Mae Ann Hope Marquez of Boxed Blooms Event Styling said their client specifically requested the veggie stall.
She said: 'It was a fun and interactive setup for all the guests. They had fun gathering the produce. It was unique and made the event more memorable for everyone.'
Other vegetables in the booth included onions, eggplant, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, ginger, and garlic.
Despite being an agricultural nation, the Philippines often experiences high vegetable prices. Last year, the cost of onions skyrocketed to 600 PHP (8.09 GBP) per kilogramme, driven by factors such as supply shortages, poor agricultural infrastructure, and inefficient market systems.
Typhoons, high fuel costs, and restrictive import and export policies also drive the prices up.
