Christmas tree crafted from glassblowing techniques
A Christmas tree was crafted using glassblowing techniques.
An artisan created a stunning miniature glass tree with fire from a blowtorch and melted glass in Fujian, China, on November 8.
Footage shows the man swirling thin lines of soft glass onto a metal bar while torching it in place.
He then crafted a star and fastened it atop the tree, adding small dots of colorful glass ornaments to the miniature plant.
Glassblowing originated in the Syro-Palestinian region in the 1st century B.C. It spread throughout the Roman Empire, becoming a highly prized skill. The technique was later adopted by glassblowers in the Western world and spread across southern Europe and beyond.
