A loose wheel detached from a truck and rolled into the front of an ice cream shop.

CCTV footage shows the tyre separating from a passing eight-wheeler and turning to the roadside in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand, on June 7.

It crashed onto a table before a startled worker who was resting in the afternoon, two steps away from rows of large containers used for manufacturing the dessert.

He quickly stood up and used his hand to stop the large wheel. No one was hurt or damaged.

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
