Los Angeles, United States - November 25, 2024 11/25/2024 02:57 am (GMT-0800) BROADWAY-MANCHESTER, LOS ANGELES – The LAFD responded to a reported structure fire on the 8700 block of South San Pedro Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire showing from a large, metal-clad commercial building known as Allied Steel. Crews immediately entered a defensive posture and requested additional resources to battle the flames. San Pedro Street was closed from Manchester to 87th Street during the firefight. Over 16 fire companies were on the scene when the fire was upgraded to a Major Emergency status incident, according to LAFD Spokesperson Margaret Stewart. Stewart reported that firefighters continued to battle the heavy fire defensively while defending the adjoining cabinetry business. The flames began to spread inside, and crews made entry to extinguish the fire. At this point, LAFD Arson was en route to assist in the cause investigation. No injuries were reported.
