Atlanta, United States - November 16, 2024 What began as a routine traffic stop over tinted windows escalated into a significant drug bust in northwest Atlanta. Police stopped a vehicle near 1700 Defoor Avenue, where an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. A subsequent search uncovered over three pounds of marijuana, 17 digital scales, two firearms, and more than $2,500 in cash. Bodycam footage captured the officer’s astonishment, saying, “It’s a lot.” The suspects, Eric Bell and Nicholas Thompson, were arrested and face charges including possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Thompson was also cited for the window tint violation that initially triggered the stop. Police praised the stop as a reminder of how minor violations can lead to uncovering larger criminal activity.
