Screaming Gecko in Slow Motion
The Leaf-tail Australian Gecko has three main survival mechanisms.
Number one - it is well camouflaged and can adjust its colour to merge in with its surroundings.
Number two - it has a tail which looks like a leaf. When threatened it will gently wave this tail in the air. A predator such as a bird will more likely attack the less vital tail then the lizards head.
Number three - when under imminent threat it will scream like a banshee! Just like the lizard is doing in this video.
To get the screaming response, the videographer gently blew in its face.
