Footage shows activists protesting against gender violence in Rome.

The activist group Bruciamo Tutto, or 'Let's Burn Everything,' disrupted the streets through protest, performance, and passive resistance on the International Day Against Gender-Based Violence, November 25.

Eleven protesters began their demonstration at Piazzale Tiburtino in the San Lorenzo district around 9:24 am. They carried out a 'swarming' action, crossing streets in synchronized movements and pausing at crosswalks to block traffic.

The group then transitioned into a slow march along Via Tiburtina, accompanied by live music as they approached Villa Mercede.

There, a black-stained red bench served as a stage for poetry, dance, and speeches.

Tensions peaked when police arrived, urging the demonstrators to disperse.

Authorities reported that nine activists continued their march in passive resistance and were eventually detained.

Earlier, on November 22, members of the feminist movement attacked the Ministry of Education building.

The protest was reportedly sparked by controversial statements made by Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara, who claimed that 'patriarchy was ideological' and blamed gender violence on migrants.

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni had previously condemned the threats against the education minister.
