A spectacular confetti drop from the top of a university building created an explosion of colours.

The students cut thousands of paper bits with various hues and collected them in bags before pouring them down from the ninth floor in Cebu, the Philippines on November 20.

Footage shows the confetti creating a dazzling display as it drifted through the courtyard. There were bright purple, orange, red, blue, yellow, and pink shades of paper.

Student Madison Hailey said the event marks the start of the University of Cebu's intramurals, or annual sports events.

She said: 'We were screaming, it was so awesome. This happens every year and the feeling is the same every time. It looked like colourful rain pouring down. We enjoyed it so much.'
