Pensioner walks pet tortoise across busy road
This is the amusing moment a pensioner walked her pet tortoise across busy a road.
Motorists had to patiently wait as the elderly woman and the turtle ambled on the pedestrian lane in New Taipei, Taiwan on November 9.
Dashcam footage shows the local guiding the animal, which is not on a leash, with her umbrella as they cross the road.
The filmer said: 'I had no choice but to wait for them to pass through because if not, I would violate the law and pay a hefty traffic fine.'
Under the New Taipei City Animal Protection Regulations, pet owners must use leashes, cages, or other suitable measures to control their pets when in public areas. Failing to comply, such as not using appropriate restraints on the road, can result in a fine ranging from 3,000 (approximately 328 GBP) to 15,000 yuan (approximately 1,640 GBP).
