The BOSE 100, Odisha’s first indigenously designed electric car, stands as a beacon of innovation and engineering excellence. Conceptualized, designed, and manufactured from the ground up at the Bhubanananda Odisha School of Engineering (BOSE), this electric vehicle is not merely a technological marvel but a proud tribute to 100 years of BOSE's legacy.

This front-wheel-drive passenger car, envisioned as a sleek roadster, has been fabricated entirely in-house at BOSE, showcasing the unparalleled ingenuity of its students and faculty. From the design and fabrication of the chassis to the assembly of body parts, every component has been meticulously engineered and crafted within the institution. The selection and integration of electric powertrains, driven by precise engineering calculations, underscore the technical competence that BOSE nurtures in its students.

At the heart of the BOSE 100 lies a 60-volt electric system powered by a 2-kilowatt BLDC motor, which draws energy from a 102Ah lithium-ion battery. This configuration delivers a commendable range of 100 kilometers on a single charge, proving that efficiency and sustainability can be achieved even with limited resources. The vehicle’s essential components, such as suspension, braking, and steering systems, have been optimally chosen from OEM spare parts readily available in the market, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining safety and functionality.

The project represents a harmonious blend of theory and practice, where students, guided by their mentors, undertook the challenging task of fabricating every aspect of the car. From welding the chassis to fitting the suspension and ensuring precise alignments, every stage was a learning milestone, exemplifying the hands-on training that BOSE has championed over a century.

The BOSE 100 is not just a car; it is a symbol of resilience, innovation, and dedication. It showcases how an institution, with limited resources but abundant talent, can create something extraordinary. This electric car celebrates Odisha’s engineering capabilities and the undying spirit of innovation that BOSE has cultivated since its inception.

As the oldest technical college in Odisha, BOSE has been the cradle of countless success stories. Its alumni have contributed to nation-building in various capacities, and this milestone project reinforces its position as a torchbearer of technical education in India. The BOSE 100 exemplifies the institution’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and fostering future-ready engineers.

With this pioneering achievement, BOSE pays homage to its illustrious 100-year journey, creating a legacy that will inspire generations of engineers to dream big and achieve the extraordinary. Aptly named the BOSE 100, this electric car is a fitting tribute to Odisha’s engineering excellence and a harbinger of a sustainable, electric-driven future.
