Pakistan is enforcing a 'shoot on sight' order as the Imran Khan riots escalate.

Security forces launched a sweeping midnight raid on November 26, targeting supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan who had stormed the capital, demanding his release.

The riots came as the detained former premier called on his supporters to storm parliament and hold a sit-in demonstration for his freedom. The marches were reportedly led by his third wife Bushra Bibi, and a key aide Ali Amin Gandapur who is also chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Reports said at least six security personnel had been killed and dozens injured following the incident. Twenty-two police vehicles were also torched.

Authorities have barricaded main roads into Islamabad with shipping containers as police and paramilitary volunteers in riot gear conducted regular patrols. Public transport between cities has also been suspended, and internet blackouts were enforced.

Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, was jailed on May 9, 2023, on corruption charges for selling state gifts for personal gain. However, his supporters claim the conviction is politically motivated, resulting in protests across the country.
