Hungry pelican attempts to eat capybara
This is the amusing moment a hungry pelican attempted to eat a capybara.
Footage shows the large bird trying to bite the water pig in their open enclosure at Wuhan Polar Haichang Ocean Park in Hubei, China on June 15.
The rodent can be seen resting atop a rock as the bird persistently nibbles at its body. The unfazed cavy remained in place, calmly allowing its companion to carry on with the interaction.
This elicited laughter among zoo visitors.
Pelicans are naturally curious and playful animals. They are known to be opportunistic feeders and will attempt to eat almost anything, sometimes even animals larger than themselves.
