Pedestrians bemused as boy rides $55,000 robot dog through streets in China
On November 22, in Wuhan, Hubei, a boy riding a robotic dog through the streets caught the attention of many passersby.
The robotic dog appeared small in size but impressively strong. Despite carrying a boy weighing around 50 to 60 pounds (22-27 kg), it moved energetically. It was also equipped with automatic obstacle-avoidance capabilities, allowing it to navigate freely through crowds.
According to Ms. Wei, who recorded the scene, the boy’s parents revealed that the robotic dog costs around 400,000 yuan (~$55,000 USD) and is a commercial or military-grade model. Compared to standard civilian robotic dogs, it boasts significantly better load capacity, endurance, and functionality.
