This is the spectacular moment students created an explosion of colour with an incredible confetti drop in the Philippines.

Footage shows the dazzling display as thousands of colourful confetti bits in purple, orange, pink, green, blue, red, and yellow hues floated through the courtyard at the University of Cebu - Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue on November 21.

The students' excitement was evident as they cheered and screamed in joy, marking the start of the university's intramurals.

Student Madison Hailey explained that the event marks the start of the University of Cebu's intramurals, or annual sports events.

She said: 'We were screaming, it was so awesome. This happens every year and the feeling is the same every time. It looked like colourful rain pouring down. We enjoyed it so much.'

This annual sports event unites the school community in a spirit of friendly competition.

Students also helped the janitors in cleaning the school grounds after the event.
